For detailed public transport information, visit Metlink Melbourne. The Melbourne travelsmart map is also a good resource for visitors.
The Gardens is surrounded by roads and generally, it is fairly easy to find parking close to 1 of the 11 entry gates. However, the Gardens are located close to a variety of major Melbourne event venues and traffic and parking conditions will vary according to event schedules.
Lots of 2, 3 and 4 hour parking is available. The City of Melbourne operates ticket machines and enforces parking restrictions in the area. Disabled parking bays are available.
Designated bicycle paths along the Yarra River and Melbourne CBD lead to the Gardens from the city centre. The Melbourne travelsmart map provides comprehensive information on bike paths. Dedicated bicycle parking is available at Observatory Gate.
Dogs are welcome on the route, but must be on a 2 meter lead and well supervised by their owner (including picking up after them). Kidney Health Australia will not take responsibility for any dogs at the event.
After the walk concludes, Kidney Health Australia will hold a BBQ for walk participants. The event will include a sausage sizzle and entertainment for the whole family. Some seating will be provided, but walkers are welcome to bring their own chairs or picnic blankets. All food and entertainment will be via gold coin donation.
