WHAT IS THE BIG RED KIDNEY WALK?
Kidney Health Australia's national Big Red Kidney Walk provides a special time for the kidney community to get together, enjoy an easy walk and an afternoon of barbeque and entertainment! The walks will feature varying distances to accommodate walkers and runners of all ages and abilities.

 

WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE EVENTS BEING HELD?
Simultaneous walks will be held on 14 September 2014, in Adelaide, Brisbane, Launceston, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.  For more information on each event, click here.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND?

Individual: $10

Children age 12 years and under: Free

Groups of 10: $50


CAN I REGISTER FOR THE WALK AS A GROUP?
Yes. Teams are encouraged to participate in the walk and will receive a team fundraising page.

 

CAN I RUN OR JOG ALONG THE COURSE FOR THE EVENT?
Yes. Simply go at whatever pace feels comfortable for you.

 

DO I HAVE TO FUNDRAISE
Fundraising as part of the Big Red Kidney Walk is optional, but strongly encouraged. Every participant will automatically receive a fundraising page upon registration. The Kidney Health Australia is happy to support you in your fundraising efforts by providing materials, ideas and guidance. Our research programs are made possible by community support and so we appreciate every contribution, big or small!

 

WHERE DOES THE MONEY RAISED FOR BIG RED KIDNEY WALK GO?
All proceeds from the Big Red Kidney Walk will be devoted to key research priorities, which will continue to drive health policy and advance programs that change and save the lives of those     impacted by kidney disease. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS ON THE EVENT DAY?
Typically the Big Red Kidney Walk will continue rain or shine, but please contact your local representative for more information on inclement weather policies.

HOW DO I RECEIVE MY EVENT MATERIALS PRIOR TO THE EVENT DAY?
Every participant will receive a walk bib in the mail that they must wear on the day to confirm their registration. Any merchandise ordered will also be mailed to you prior to the event. Goods will be mailed to the same address stated upon registration.  Event packs will be mailed 29 August 2014.


IS THERE A WAY I CAN PROMOTE THE WALK ON MY OWN?
Yes!  We would love your help in promoting the walk. Big Red Kidney Walk posters are available for download on the event website. Simply download by clicking here, print and hang it up around your community.  City-specific posters are available for download on your city's event pages.  The success of the walk depends on getting the word out and you can be the biggest help on the ground to do that for us!  If you would like additional promotional materials or have any questions, please email us at bigredkidneywalk@kidney.org.au or phone 03 9674 4300.
 


WILL THERE BE A PLACE TO LEAVE MY BELONGINGS DURING THE WALK?
No. Kidney Health Australia is unable to monitor belongings during the event. Please secure belongings before attending and participating in the walk.


ARE PRAMS AND/OR PETS ALLOWED DURING THE WALK?
Yes, prams and pets are permitted at the event. Pets must be kept on a 2 meter lead and monitored by the walk participant during the duration of the event day. Kidney Health Australia will not be responsible for cleaning up after or monitoring pets at the event.


WILL WATER BE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE COURSE?
Yes. Depending on the course, Kidney Health Australia will have volunteers positioned to direct participants to water fountains or will provide bottled water for the course.

 

CAN I PURCHASE MERCHANDISE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?
A limited supply of merchandise is available for this year's Big Red Kidney Walk. However, Kidney Health Australia is unable to guarantee the stock that will be available on the day so it is preferred that you purchase your merchandise before event day.

IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THE POST-WALK BBQ 
In an effort to maximise the amount of money raised for this event, Kidney Health Australia is asking for a gold coin donation for the post-walk BBQ and entertainment.


CAN I TRANSFER MY REGISTRATION OR GET A REFUND?
No. Unfortunately we do not allow transfers or refunds.
